Rocked!

On Saturday, me and Anna went for a walk and had lunch at "Lasse På Heden" (best burgers in town, no doubt). Afterwards, we hooked up with Mattias and went to Liseberg, just to hang out. And yowza! Did we hang out or what?

Two wrongs in one post I guess. Here we go:

Steelneck skrev så bra på Oscar Swartz blogg att jag bad helt enkelt om tillåtelse att posta hans kommentar (som är väldigt lång för att vara en kommentar) här på min egen blogg. Även om det inte direkt är något nytt i hans inlägg, så är det skrivet på ett sätt som berör och borde vara lättillgängligt för de flesta. Här är steelnecks inlägg i sin helhet:

Vi har en generation beslutsfattare som glömt, eller aldrig fått veta eller lärt sig, antagligen både rädda och synnerligen godtrogna. De har inte glömt kriget och dödandet, bokbålen eller koncentrationslägren, det har de blivit påminda om gång på gång med de efterföljande orden eller meningen - glöm aldrig. Men det viktiga har glömts, hur och varför. Idag står tom. personen på den mäktigaste posten i världen och helt öppet talar om hämnd istället för rättvisa, samtidigt som han titt som tätt talar om människorättsliga fri- och rättigheter.. Plonk.

En gammal sanning om krig är att bland de första offren hittas ofta sanningen. Det största hotet idag kommer inifrån, mycket på grund av att vi glömt - de som inte lär av historien är dömda att upprepa den. Hotet består idag av vår egen rädsla, för vem är det egentligen som vinner när någon självmant begränsar sina egna fri- och rättigheter på grund av sin egen rädsla? Ord som terrorist, barnmisshandel, pedofili (välj ditt gift) används oftast i retoriskt syfte av folk som driver en agenda, och innebär oftast inte några reella hot krävandes akut handling. Med pliktskylig ton: - Vi måste väga säkerhet mot frihet och göra något som bär oss emot för att skydda er mot X, och har du bara rent mjöl i påsen så har du inget att vara rädd för.. Det kallas "scare mongering" på engelska, ett falskspelande på folks rädsla. Falskspelande eftersom vågskålen inte finns eftersom säkerheten förlorar sitt fundament utan frihet. Tänk på dem som är beredda att offra sina liv för frihet. De grundläggande människorättsliga fri- och rättigheterna står aldrig någonsin i någon sorts motsatsställning till säkerhet, aldrig.

Rättsäkerhet betyder att en å annan högst tvivelaktig person går fri - get over it, för motsatsen leder till en inskränkning av friheten som säkerheten var tänkt att beskydda. Att drakdödaren bara hugger huvudena av de ideal han sade sig vara för. Å vad beträffar terrorism, sånt krigar man inte emot, krig är tvärt om ett 100% säkert sätt att skapa terrorism, något endast det industrimilitära komplexet tjänar på, ja i längden inte ens de. Terrorism bekämpas med ett grundmurat agiterande och handlande för grundläggande människorättsliga fri- och rättigheter.

Vart tar det vägen? Vilka effekter kommer det att ha? Vägen till helvetet är kantad av goda intentioner, och det kommer att ha fruktansvärda effekter på sikt. Men genom de små stegen så går det i takt med rättsuppfattningen och det ses inte klart förrän i efterhand. Vi kanske skådar självaste början på slutet av det vi idag kallar fria samhällen. Ingen rättsstat säger idag öppet att de spionerar preventivt på de egna medborgarna, det skulle vara ett allvarligt människorättsligt brott och i grunden tyda på något oerhört smutsigt. Vi skall alla betraktas som oskyldiga till motsatsen bevisats i domstol, och det spelar ingen roll hurvida polis och militär tycker det är obekvämt. Politiker skall inte agera vare sig polis eller domare, och polisen eller militären skall varken döma eller stifta lagar. Ställ er frågan: Vem kan skada er värst, staten med sitt våldsmonopol eller "kreti o pleti"? Du kan publikt uttala än det ena eller det andra om herr Putin i Ryssland, men kan Putin göra något åt det? Näe, just det, i varje fall väldigt lite. Men staten du lever under kan verkligen göra det.

De fri- och rättigheter vi alla låtsas hålla så högt är till för att skydda medborgare från sin regim, inte skydda regimer från dess medborgare.. Vi har yttrandefrihet, föreningsfrihet, tryckfrihet osv., mycket för att kunna granska och utöva opposition mot de styrande, utan det faller demokratin och hela vårt statskick. Demokratin vilar på en grund av kritik och opposition. Fri- och rättigheterna, allihop inklusive dess konsekvenser, är ett skyddsnät. Detta är vågskålen, och det vägdes 1948, idag verkar somliga vilja väga om i glömskans namn. Med dessa fri- och rättigheter och deras syften intakta så kan vi ta perioder av inkompetenta, rasistiska (fyll på efter behag) politiker. Men vad händer när staten börjar opponera och granska sina medborgare istället för medborgare som granskar och opponerar sig mot staten? Jo, hela det bräckliga korthuset faller samman.

Om jag, med mina värderingar av idag, hade levt i 30-talets tyskland, då hade jag helt säkert setts som en mycket potentiell terrorist av den då demokratiskt valda regimen. Kom också ihåg att de flesta länder beundrade tyskland vid denna tidpunkt just före kriget, fram till dess att tyskland började annektera grannländer och skramla med vapen. Gång på gång blir vi påminda om att vi inte får glömma. Men se vad som händer, vi har glömt. Det hände på grund av rädsla och de valde säkerhet över frihet. Tyskland kuvades av omvärldens eftergifter efter första världskriget, omvärlden förstod inte att förlorarfolket fortfarande måste kunna leva tillsammans med vinnarfolket om inte en total etnisk rensning sker. Det kuvade tyska folket ropade efter en stark ledare som kunde ena och ge dem "lebensraum", de fick en.. I början skedde en del beundransvärt som iofs. dolde en del väldigt mörka saker. Men de som ger upp grundläggande friheter för att köpa sig lite säkerhet, förtjänar varken frihet eller säkerhet. 1948 förstod världen och enades om den almänna förklaringen om de mänskliga rättigheterna. Det verkar dock vara glömt idag när världens mäktigaste ledare säger: "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists".. Den meningen är nog en av de större attackerna som riktats mot frihet och demokrati sedan andra världskriget.

Varför vill alla möjliga regimer, inklusive vår egen, kunna filtrera allt som går in och ur landet ifråga? Jo, de vill i slutändan spionera på medborgare, vad det egna landet kommunicarar mot omvärlden. Vad som sker nu är att många säkerhetstjänster runt om i världen börjar se det egna landet som en svart låda (de får ju inte, på goda grunder, spinka i lådan). Kan man filtrera allt in och utgående, vilket är fullt möjligt rent tekniskt och givetvis lagligt om man ändrar lagen, då kan man ta reda på en hel del. Går något in och kan matchas mot något som går ut, så passerade det bara. Går något in och inte matchades av något utgående, så kom det utifrån och mottagaren är inhemsk. Går något ut och inte matchas av något tidigare ingående så var skaparen inhemsk. Lägg nu till datalagringen som redan är beslutat på EU-nivå och kombinera det med samarbeten mellan olika länders säkerhetstjänster som rapporterar till varandra.. Sen kan du säga adjö till privat kommunikation och meningutbyte och det gäller i lika hög grad telefonsamtal eftersom de också är elektroisk kommunikation som ofta routas via annat land.

En del säger att kommunikation över Internet kan betraktas som vykort, men det är ett falsarium. Det är falskt eftersom det förutsätter att rätten till privat kommunikation redan är satt ur spel. Denna grundläggande rättighet kan vi tillgodose och skydda idag när det sker genom kabel, så har vi också gjort ända sedan telefonens intåg, detta alldelens oavsett det faktum att även tvivelaktiga personer började använda telefoner. Avsteg från sådana här grundläggande rättigheter görs bara när det juridiskt bedömts finnas skälig misstanke - aldrig annars. Somliga vill ändra på det, och göra dagens falsarium till sanning. Någon kanske opponerar sig och säger att det skall ju bara filtreras och inte avlyssnas, bara sådant som fastnar i de hemliga filtren blir läst. Ytterligare ett logiskt falsirum. Det är ingen skillnad på om en maskin filtrerar och bara rapporterar det som fastna, jämfört med en person som gör samma sak. Mitt och ditt privatliv blir precis lika komprommetterat i båda fall. Eller näe, det är faktiskt värre, både för att det kan ske i så fruktansvärt heltäckande massiv skala, och att det rycker saker ur sitt sammanhang.

Men pappersbrev har du kontrollen över resultatet, de är färdiga i sin form. Automatiserad avlyssning tenderar däremot att rycka saker ur sitt sammanhang. Du kanske redigerar utkast till något på en server, inget i det du skickar säger att det bara är ett utkast, och du kan inte veta om någon eftersökt buse råkar använda samma server. Du kanske spelar spel, ett pang-pang-krigs spel där du kommunicerar order om "döda", "sabotera", "stjäl vapen" till dina medspelare i ditt lag - "nuke that sob.".. Det finns alla upptänkliga synnerligen virtuella världar som bara är rena fatasier. Allt från sagor, fantasier och delande av tankar till regimkritik, sånt skall inte registreras, det kan gravt missförstås och det är ren och skär åsiktsregistrering som ytterst hotar demokratin. Det är mycket lättare att försvara sig emot någon som sprättat upp ett privat brev och frågar varför du skrivit XX till mottagaren YY, än vad det när någon undrar varför du överhuvudtaget sänder data till en server som också huserar den kände busen ZZ. Inte ens möjligheten skall tillåtas byggas upp, hur snäll nuvarande regim än kan tänkas vara. En skälig juridiskt bedömd misstanke mot person måste finnas först. Därför är filtrering av elektronisk kommunikation utan reell misstanke tom. ett värre brott än om staten började sprätta upp våra privata brev. Det närmast osannolika är dock att någon politiker ens kan föreslå det utan att ruinera hela sin karriär. Men det beror på att vi glömt det som inte fick glömmas.

Preventiv avlyssning tyder också på en skev världsbild, ett oförstånd mot att världen är föränderlig. Det som är väldigt fel idag behöver inte vara det imorgon. Att yttra något på persiska om anläggningarna i Natanz till någon i Iran lär nog ha lätt att ådra sig misstankar idag. Men efter att några internationella avtal träffats under FNs paraply så kan det vara helt i sin ordning. Medans den dåliga tajmingen kan ha fått någon säkerhetstjänst att sätta kainsmärket i den hemliga personakten, något som kanske aldrig går att tvätta bort - och personen får leva med "oförklarliga" konsekvenser..

Sorry if I'm a bit late to the party. So, the AACS and friends have been trying to censor the number 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0 from the internet. They've sent out Cease and Desist letters to different sites (digg.com included). The Swedish magazine publication syndicate IDG has decided to censor the number as well.

The main thing that bugs me, apart from the silliness of it all, is how people are interpreting the law (much can be said about the laws regulating copy protection etc themselves, mind you) at hand. Basically, the law clearly says that spreading and using techniques for circumventing copy protection schemes is illegal.

Clearly, a decryption key is not a technique. The decryption / playback algorithms are. And the movie industry are spreading those techniques themselves. Those techniques are clearly made for, well, accessing the protected data. Forbid those instead :) Or maybe they should just realize that they can't stop someone having access to data they WANT you to have access to. They have to choose.

Will they be coming after me know? Will a tinfoil hat help? I got plenty!

I've forgotten to say. I don't want a PS3 any longer. It's not that the PS3 has gotten pricier or worse or anything, it's just that my gear lust has moved on. I want an HTPC.

I think the middle one is the ugliest of the three. The last one is the cheapest, but it's fairly huge. The first one looks cool, is silent, small, basically built for running a linux media center solution (I'm thinking MythTV), but... They're manufactured by a small company in California and there's no retailers here in Sweden.

First Rihanna used Soft Cells cover recording of "Tainted Love" as the basis for her tune "S.O.S.", and she executed it in a fairly decent manner.

Now Jamelia tries to do what Rihanna did and uses Depeche Modes "Personal Jesus" as the basis for her tune "beware of the dog", and it's just horrible. She's not just ripping off Depeche Mode, but mainly she's ripping of Rihanna's way of singing, way of doing new drums to an old track and the general whole thingy mojo.

An Inconvenient Truth

I've finally seen it. And it scares the shit out of you.
I'm left with my head filled with these questions.
Can anything be done? Or is the catastrophe by now totally inevitable?
Will Sweden still be habitable in like 50 years time? Or will our cities be covered under water or ice?
Why do our governments suck so hard? Someone ought to legislate totally against all the "bad" polluting stuff. It should not be economically feasible for someone to drive their car every day without sharing it with others. It does not matter that we cannot "afford" it. It's either a collapse of our national economy or a collapse of the global environment. As it stands today, we, and our government, are picking the latter. Because we don't want to give up our conveniences. We don't want to be troubled. We suck.

I sincerely hope that the oil crisis will come really soon and that it will bring our production, economy and world population increment to an halt. There's too many of us, doing way too stupid and bad short sighted things. When my parents were born in the 1940's there were about two billions of us here on this planet. It took us what? About 20 000 years to get to the two billion mark (which ofcourse is what it also took us to reach the one billion mark, around the late 1800's). It took us about 60 years to get from there to the six billion mark. I expect it'll end up with lots of people dying.

And, oh, I almost forgot. The ice on Greenland, Arctica and Antarctica is melting. It's not about whether it will start to melt or not. It is melting, and if it doesn't stop melting, polar bears will be left with no ground to stand on, global sea levels will increase (if just the ice on Greenland goes, they estimate that sea levels will rise 6 meters (20ft)), and the gulf stream might be at stake. Without the gulf stream, northern Europe (were I live) might end up being too cold to sustain a decent life, or even be covered in ice, that's what happened the last time the gulf stream stopped. But then, that time, it wasn't due to this kind of global worming.

If you just let one lie on the floor, he will claim it his and sit in it whenever he finds himself out of other things to do (sleep or hassle our other cat, kapris). Unless you make an effort to make the box cosy with a blanket or something, then it's all of a sudden utterly uninteresting to him.

I've just recently released a software synthesizer called Anna (yeah!), and it's fancy stuff!
It's "a Subtractive, FM and WaveGeneration hybrid synthesizer capable of a wide range of sounds thanks to its versatile oscillators, flexible routing scheme and extensive modulation capabilities."

Extensive list of features:

Four oscillators capable of complex waveforms, utilizing internal frequency modulation
with separate waveforms and frequencies for the carrier and modulator.
Spread knob on oscillators, running three detuned oscillators internally in the oscillator,
resulting in a total of up to 12 oscillators.
Two multi-mode filters with 14 different modes and internal filter overdrive.
Pitch tracking of the filters, allows the user to ”play” the filters.
Four multi-mode LFO's with random, waveform and step sequencer modes.
Four modulation envelopes with basic and multi-point modes, user-defined slopes for each
of the stages and looped sustain section.
Extensive modulation matrix with 16 slots. Modulation sources include oscillator and filter
outputs (all modulations are ”audio rate”).
Frequency Modulation XY-pad defining the following oscillator frequency modulations:
oscillator 1 > 2, 1 > 3, 2 > 3 and 3 > 4.
Effects section with fully parametric two-band equalizer, two modulated stereo delays with

A few days ago, when me and Anna were roaming the streets of Haga we stumbled upon a band playing on the street. It was three guys, all of them played xylophones (or something like that), but one of them mainly played the accordion and one of them sometimes played, uhm, the scissors. The music was really great, so we stayed and listened to them and bought their CD "Hemvägen EP". After they had finished playing their last track, "Dansbanan", lots of people had managed to stop and listen and everyone applauded. The band looked a bit emberrased and suprised.

Anyway, I recommend everyone to go over to their myspace page and atleast listen to the tracks "Dansbanan" and "E18". Awesome shit.

The new internet users

So I've been thinking, discussing and done some random pondering.
If the Data retention directive that has been passed within the European Union stands, internet anonymity service such as relakks and dold.se would basically not work any longer, since all operators would have to log all their users activities. What would then the next logical step be? To move the anonymity service provides outside of the union ofcourse. We'd end up having the mainstream (yes, the mainstream are criminals and most likely most people don't want anyone keeping track of what they do, what they read, who they make phone calls to, who they mail etc) going underground, but not just underground within the country. But abroad. Instead of like now, when it's still possible to have some kind of grasp of the underground where most of the serious online (and other communication channels besides the internet as well) illegal activities are going on, almost everyone would go underground, just to stay away from the governments surveillance of their people. Some would probably make their phone calls solely via anonymous internet connections, just to avoid having their communications and whereabouts monitored by the telephone company, and in the longer run, the police/government.

Regardless of how "wrong" for instance piracy is, we have to remember that more than a tenth of the Swedish population are actively performing it. Since it can constitute for a sentence of up to two years in prison, and since it with the upcoming surveillance law changes will be possible to secretely monitor not just the main suspect, but also anyone within the suspects social network, which means that even if you're not into copyright infringement or any other illegal activites you still might end up on the police's radar, because most likely, someone you know is.

Bottom line is that the surveillance and data retention directive will create an internet that can't be surveilled, where you can't keep track of any communications. And by then, the winners are the criminals that should matter (think organized crime etc), because they can do their stuff where everybody else is doing theirs.

PS. Sorry, I usually don't blog about important stuff, I hope I did not bore you. DS.

Edit: I'd like to leave you with this question: What happens to a society if it's citizens actively and constantly avoid beeing seen by the government and police? What trust is there left? Would it still feel like a free society? Give it some thought.

Yesterday!

The Logitech Harmony 525 remote that is! Managed to configure up the Xbox, projector, surround system and whatnot yesterday. Unfortunately it messes up a bit when trying to change inputs on the projector, but according to my oh so reliable sources their customer service is good and handles such problems in a jiffy. The issue is that there's three input buttons, with two different inputs on each button, plus that the projector remembers which of those two that was active the last time you pressed that specific button. And if you press the currently active one just once it doesn't do anything but show you the current input. And so forth. But apart from that the remote is KICK-ASS! Works splendidly with XBMC etc as well, which is really nice. Streamline Stefan, streamline.

Order on the internet ffs...

As I wrote in a previous post, this monday I ordered the Harmony 525. I ordered it from Dustin Home. When doing so I carefully read about their order handling etc.

They have three different statuses on their products; in stock, 1-2 days, not in stock. The Harmony had the 1-2 days status, which, according to their own delivery terms means that they usually deliver it within 1-2 days. In stock means that they deliver it immedietly. Not in stock means that it can take some time.

When looking at my orders status on their homepage today, nothing had changed. So I sent them an mail asking them if I had done something wrong or if there were any problems.

They replied:

Hi,
We got a preliminary delivery date set to the 25th of august. You should have your order 1-2 days after that.

I, quite irritated, wrote back to them:

Uhm, ok?
So why does it not say "not in stock" on the product description? I will now get my order in 2 weeks instead of in 1-2 days. There's quite a difference.

Not that there's anything I really can do about it. Except get pissed off that is. I'd say they're all jameses. They could've atleast apologized. Maybe they will now that I wrote back to them. We'll see.

Update:
They replied:

I see it now too. Our supplier does indeed have this in stock, so the previous stated date seems to be wrong. We should now be able to deliver the remote control early this next coming week.

So why do I have to wait a week then, if the status indeed was 1-2 days and their supplier indeed has it in stock? (which is what I asked them in my reply just now).

Dang. And about such a silly thing too.

A remote control.

Me... wants.... it....

The best part is that the two cheapest models are the ones I find the coolest (prices range from about €55 to €350 or so).

With this remote we could replace the current three residing on the living room table. And yes, we have to use all three. All the time... Change from watching a DVD to watching a VHS? You need to click around on all three. And so it goes.

With this remote you could just choose "Watch DVD" and it'd take care of the rest for us. And same goes "Listen to music" and for everything else.

Now that I've looked some more at the two models (the one on the pic, which is the 525, and the one that is a little bit fancier, the 550) I'm quite confident that I prefer the 525! And I know that Anna would like it if it wasn't such a hassle to handle all those electronic gadget (and yes, it is a hassle, I want a simpler solution as well). I just wonder if I can control the Xbox with it as well... (or the PS3 for that matter, when that day comes!)

PlayStation 3 must be the first console (slash computer?) that have gotten me excited. Ever.

Yesterday me and Mattias went to a Håkan Hellström concert on Lindholmen (it was the grahd finale for the Volvo Ocean Race). What a mighty fine concert it was! Such a happy guy on stage, he's friggin contagious I tell thee.

Unfortunately I'm in the middle of a work-work-work period now. I had to go home quite early after the concert, and there's very little spare time to spend at the moment.

We finished it off with checking out the new mall "Allum" in partille. Quite a good mall complex, but not the perfect day for such activities. Way too good weather. So we ended the day with a bunch of hours in Slottskogen where we SUPER-RELAXED in our FLOCKED RELAX LOUNGERS. Lots of people came forward and asked us where we'd bought them and even more people commented on how cool they where and how SUPER-RELAXED we seemed. And indeed, we were!

Today when I got up it was 20 degrees (celsius) warm outside already. Hm... On a hot day it's usually like 15 in the morning. This can't be good :)

Today I drove totally alone for the first time. When I picked up the car. It was a bit nerv wracking, but after that I've been quite a breezer! First we went to freeport (outlet thingy) which kindof sucked more than we remembered that it did. But after that we drove to Linné, parked (for free. Environment class FTW as well!!!) right by the side of the road, ate some greek bbq food, and then drove home and found ourself another free parking space. Which took a while because there's cars packed friggin everywhere. But now it's time to go out for... A walk, believe you me!

Tonight I'll pick up the rental me and Anna will have over the weekend. The fee for renting it friday to monday is about 30€ (plus mileage). It's a "environment class 1" car, which for us basically means we need to fill it with ethanol (which is quite a lot cheaper than petrol) and that we can park for free almost everywhere.

I haven't drove a car for quite some time now, so I'm both a bit nervous and excited. More excited than nervous, looking forward driving around, just me and Anna (and maybe her sister, we'll see).

Google Spreadsheets

Heh. They just keep on roaming, don't they? Now they've basically started entering the "office suite" territory for real. Google Spreadsheets supports both xls and cvs, online collabitory spreadsheets, shared spreadsheets etc.

The only things I still find somewhat missing from Googles products is a more centralized approach (I don't want to open a whole lot of browser windows just to both see my mail, get calendar notifications and so forth) and GUI customization. Compare for instance Google's Personlized Home with Netvibes. Choosable templates or something similar would be the bomb.

There's been a pooload of discussions in media in Sweden about the current state of our copyright laws and its issues. It's the expected aftermath after the raid on The Pirate Bay. I have lots of comments on the subject but I'd like to sort some of the out some more before commenting on the matter.

Not sure I will do it even then. I prefer talking about hammer drills and inflatable armchairs!!!

OOOOOH. I hope there one day will be inflatable hammer drills and whatnots!

Our castle!

Check it out, as I previously promised, here's some swell photographs from when me and Anna went up to "Annedals castle" or whatever it might be called. I've wanted to go up there for quite some time, and when I finally got around to do it, Anna wanted to join me!

I do not know what the building actually is supposed to be or why it was built. It has got no windows and its only entrance is firmly and securely bolted shut. IF I'd HAVE to venture a guess I'd say that they probably locked some Swedish-norwegian (from the time of the alliance) wizard and/or witch in there, so that they'd stop pestering the boys and girls of Annedal. But I'm not really sure about this, and I have never heard any such story about our small castle.

The "sunny view" picture looks out over Nilssonsberg (where we live) and you can see another "castle" (more of a fortification really) called Skansen Kronan.

The picture from my birthday party sucked really hard, so I won't put them up here.

Today I added a page about my dual-band Compressor/Expander and four band parametric equalizer over at my googlepages page. No mp3 examples etc yet, I guess it will have to wait. But if you head over there you can go to a kvraudio thread (link on the Compressor & Eq page) and download the latest versions.

Been meaning to release new versions of both VST plugins for a while, but first I lost some of the work I made to the compressor (I have catched up now though!) which made my motivation drop for a day or two and I need to find a good way to improve stability in the filters in the equalizer. Which is boring, hence I haven't gotten around to it just yet.

And, oh. Signed up for Google Analytics today, because it seems way cooler than statcounter. I'll let you know how it turns out when I've gotten my invitation from them.

Ah! What a mighty fine weekend! On friday me, Anna, Mattias and two friends of ours hung out in Slottskogen, then afterwards me and Mattias went clubbing (where we also met a few, variously knackered, work-mates of mine, a good night out it was!). On saturday me and Anna went to Röda Sten with Anna's sister and her boyfriend, followed by a visit to hagabion's café for some leisure-filled dining. Then today we went to Slottskogen again. Oh how we adore that place. Hooked up with Mattias again, and a while later two friends of his joined us. Met a few other friends while being there as well. The perfect place for people-you-know-spotting I dare say!

Anyhoo, time to put an end to this marvelous weekend.

Big Brothers

I read "silverfiskens" blog post about when he was a kid and got a dart arrow in his head. There's something special about big brothers I guess, and how they somehow by some kind of misfortune'ish mishap manages to hurt their little brothers.

I remember this one time when me and my brother was at home alone. Our father had a very old air gun somewhere in the garage. We weren't allowed to use it since it was so old and not quite working properly. No worries, because when the parents are away you're allowed to do anything you want. So my bigger brother got the air gun and then we stood side by side on the terrace when suddenly there was this small bang and a very sudden but oh so perceivable pain in my foot.

I clearly remember sitting in the upper bathroom pouring cold water over my foot. One could see the bone in the hole, it was very white (probably due to the water flushing away the blood as well). Luckily, the gun was in very bad shape and the bullet entered the skin, hit the bone, and bounced back and hit my brother as well. So I figured there at least was some sort of justice left in this world!

Statcounter

I've recently started using statcounter's services to keep an eye on how many visitors I get both here and on my googlepages. What I find particulary neat is how they summarize and differentiate unique visitors, pageloads and returning visitors, both per day and weekly/monthly etc. Plus that I can keep track of from where each user is coming from.

As an interesting sidenote, I usually have been getting something like five unique visitors per day. Until I made a post about Google Calendar (which still rocks, and, might I add, still got me all excited. didn't QUITE get Anna as excited though :)) earlier today, and ended up getting 16 unique visitors instead. Because people have been searching the blogs about Google Calendar stuff.

You're all a bunch of freaks, you hear?!

Anyways, time to install some statcounter stuff for Anna as well, cheerio!

(There was another poster from the same movie, but the midget reference felt a bit off...)

More Calendar

I expect Google Calendar to become HUGE. Mainly due to the fact that it's so easy to create and maintain a public calendar (or one that you share with your friends).
Me and Mattias for instance, we have already created "gbg-nöje", which is a public calendar that we both maintain. Not to aid others, but still, useful for a selected few atleast :)

If someone would have the energy to maintain a full-blown Gothenburg club guide, that'd be awesome. Not me though, way too lazy. Carry on!

Now I just have to convince Anna that she should have one as well, and share it with me, so that I have full knowledge of what we got planned and whatnot!

Is one of those "classics" that not Anna nor I had seen. Until now. Or, well, soon, we got some 30 minutes left of it. I don't get it, it's almost hard to watch the whole thing. It's such a bad movie. And Lorenzos part is way too small in it. Van Damme isn't even in the cast, which sucks. Ah well, I'll just have to cope for the remaining part of it, Van Damme or not.

Apropos "My Name Is Earl"

First of all, as far as I know, no-one from Full House is part of the cast for My Name Is Earl. Which for some of you, no doubt, is a bit of a let-down. Well there you go, that's what happens if you like the cast of Full House...

Anyway...

No-one here had said anything about My Name Is Earl today. I was about to ask a colleague if he has been watching the show:

That was creepy, and I hope he's out of my head now, that bugger.

and I are very upset. Swedes have this naughty habit of "spelling" (or misspelling) english words in a swedish manner. Site -> sajt. Mail -> mejl. Kind of like if we'd spell garage as garasch, me and mattias concluced. Or, well, he did, and I understood.

Yesterday I fell, now I can't walk properly, and it for sure "si teh sux". It was slippery as hell yesterday, someone ought to do something about it! And oh, I picked up my drivers license!
